This was the second occasion during the last two months that a large number of Maoist militias surrendered before the police. Earlier on June 11 last about 295 Maoist supporters surrendered before the police.

Police sources said the developmental activities undertaken by the Odisha government in the Swabhiman Anchal, once dominated by Maoist activities, has changed the life of the Maoist supporters.

The surrendered Maoist militias also expressed their opposition to the Maoist ideology by burning their dresses and raising the slogan “ Maobadi Murdabad”.
