What has transpired in the state of Jharkhand politics has some message for many in politics. Yet the tribal chief minister of Jharkhand has also a message for his detractors that, politics of vengeance does not succeed always, is what the chief minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren has said.
He has responded to the recent notice from the Enforcement Directorate(ED) some what like this. More or less, in the manner the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia dared the CBI.
But in the case of Soren, who has won the first leg battle against his political survival in the recent months, this time has adopted the tactics of offence is the best defense.
Soren, who has been alleged to have link with the sand mafias in the state, has taken to the recourse of political appeal to shield himself from the recent summons from the investigating agency.
The chief minister has this time played the tribal card and his clamor against the BJP and the ED is on that note daring the ED to arrest him.
Soren, meanwhile, has refused to appear before the ED by which Soren’s voice seems intended to have its resonance in the coming Assembly polls in Gujarat.
Gujarat polls, undeniably, enjoying the top priority for the BJP’s scheme of things, the latter cannot afford to see that, the tribal votes in Gujarat get, in any way, influenced by Soren’s call to ‘teach the BJP a lesson’.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday refused to appear at Enforcement Directorate (ED) at Ranchi and asked the central agency to arrest him. By which Soren readies himself to be a political martyr than genuflecting before his enemies.
Addressing a massive rally outside his residence, JMM leader said, “I have not murdered anyone, did not commit any crime, why are you calling me for questioning, better arrest me.”
‘State of warriors’
“You questioned Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, but you must remember Jharkhand is the home of Heroes, tribal warriors”, Soren said.
The furious reaction from the Jharkhand Chief Minister was in response to a notice served on him to appear before the ED for questioning in connection with his alleged links with sand mafia.
Good number of JMM workers from different part of the state had come to attend the rally. Hemant tried to turn the table saying that the ED and BJP were scared, security in their offices at Ranchi have been beefed up. “Our workers are silent, they have not reacted so far,” he said.
Hemant asked JMM cadre to go to the villages and spread the message of ED and CBI harassing their leader. He issued an appeal to the tribal and scheduled caste voters of Gujarat to ensure defeat of BJP that was harassing a tribal chief minister of Jharkhand.
“Gujrat Mein Ek Bhi Adivasi Seat BJP Ko Na Jaye (not a single tribal seat should go to BJP), was the furious response from Soren who seems ready to fight till the last, if need be.
He alleged the BJP has entered into a conspiracy to destabilise the Jharkhand Government through ED and CBI and warned “Chhedoge to Chhodenge nahi (if you disturb , we will not leave you).”
It is not without any substance that a chief minister can cross swords with a mighty central leadership of the BJP.
In the given circumstances, it is very likely that, the ED may arrest the Jharkhand chief minister for the interrogations to silence him. But, in politics of these days, messages spread very fast and perhaps it has been so in the case of Jharkhand.
