Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday ordered an inquiry by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the use of force on Kashmiri Pandits who were protesting against the killing of Rahul Bhat by militants in Kashmir.
Rahul Bhat, a revenue department official at Chadoora in Budgam district, was shot dead at his office on May 12. His death triggered protests at various places and widespread condemnation.
Police fired tear smoke shells to disperse a group of Kashmiri Pandits who were protesting against the killing and tried to march towards the Srinagar Airport Road in Budgam district on Friday.
“Rahul Bhat’s killing is a targeted one. Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe it from all angles along with the use of force to disperse Kashmiri Pandits who were protesting the killing”, LG said while talking to media persons at Raj Bhawan Srinagar.
He said “directions have been issued to the administration not to use force anywhere”, LG said.
Meanwhile, seven police officers including five Station House Offices (SHO’s) of Budgam district have been shifted to other places, police said.
