Bhubaneswar, Aug 12: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his visit to Mayubhanj on Friday has dedicated two major projects and laid the foundation stones of several developmental schemes.
Patnaik dedicated the Deo and Subarnarekha irrigation projects to the people of Mayurbhanj. The significant features of the projects are , it will irrigate 27,000 hectars of area and benefit about 2.5 lakh farmers.
Expressing his pleasure over the strides made by the tribal youth drawing the inference that when a tribal child joins an international standard school, that not only speaks of him but it reflects the progress made by Odisha.
He reassured the local tribal that, developmental steps taken for them has started showing results and which is very encouraging.
Built at a cost of Rs 685 cr the Subarnarekha irrigation project has the capacity to doubly benefit farmers in Balasore and Mayubhanj districts with a target of irrigating about 70 thousand hectars.
The programs to empower them through education and employment have earned the ST children a name for themselves in the country and abroad by their skills, he said adding developmental and welfare projects on agriculture, education, health and other programmes launched by the government have empowered the people.
The Chief Minister said the Art and Culture of Mayurbhanj has a special identity in the entire country. The ST brothers and sisters of Mayurbhanj have a rich tradition and President Droupadi Murmu has taken it to a new height.
